Snap.  Snap.  Snap-ap.  Ms. L.V. Hull’s art “studio” was a 15×19 inch TV tray that likely cost $15 at the most. Snapping the legs of the tray into the supporting brackets served as an invocation of the muse each time she sat down to work; a rhythmic ritual performed by the body to court the wisdom of the spirit. The tray also reminds us that we usually don’t need to spend much money to harness the power of creativity.  Feel free to watch this clip whenever you need help transitioning from the workaday to your work day, and please use the comments to let me know what other rituals help you settle into your own creative practice.  Be sweet.
